Children are like bubbles
Carefree, floating, through the air
Happy, light, untouched
Children begin as a blank slate
They do not have baggage yet
They do not recoil in fear of anything yet
They are bold, confident and assume that everyone loves them
Children are not filled with doubt yet
They do not care what others think of them
They smile at the world and say, “Bring it on! I can handle anything!”
They are not tired, yet.
They are not hurt, yet.
Children are a blank slate; fresh, new, clean
Like the mid-west after a new snow covers the ground
Making everything look clean and new again; untouched and unharmed.
Oh that we could all stay as little children
Carefree, confident, unafraid, resolute, at peace
Only in the arms of our heavenly father can we be
Like little children again.
Be born again. Be small. Be helpless and dependent, again.
Jesus said, “Unless you change and become like little children,
You will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Why? Why be like little children?
Because children trust, children can be dependent
As adults we are independent,
We Think we are self-sufficient
We think we Deserve certain things
Children would not assume that they deserve anything
They are perfectly humble, needy, unassuming
They have not been puffed up with self yet
The do not have accomplishments to brag about yet
They simply exist
Jesus is calling us to just be
Without pretenses, carefree, unencumbered by this world
To trust Him as a child trusts, without reservation
To fully let go, of everything
To run to Him like a child gleefully runs to their parent
To need Him, as a child needs us.
Oh that we would become as children again
And be dependent on our Heavenly Father
That we would see our place,
as a mist that is here today and gone tomorrow
Oh that we would run into his arms that are wide open
Waiting
For us.
So let go of it all
and run to Jesus,
He is waiting for you.
