“The love of money is the root of all evil.”
“You cannot love God and money….you cannot serve two
masters.”
“Whoever loves money never has money enough.”
Who/what do we love?
Where does our heart belong, I wonder?
“Where your treasure is there your heart will be
also.”
Americans, we love our money, our things, our
objects.
We run and race, climb the corporate ladder, to get
more, more what?
Things we can’t take with us into the next life.
But we still want more.
We still strive and fight and compete over who has
what and how much.
We stuff our garages and fill our houses with stuff
to overflowing.
We feel jealousy when someone has what we don’t.
So the rat race continues.
But what is it all for? Does any of it matter?
No.
Loving God alone is all that matters.
“Fear God and keep his commandments,” Solomon concludes.
So why strive? Why “chase after the wind.”
“Be still and know that I am God.”
Be…..content.
Can we I wonder? Just be. Be content.
Be happy.
God or money, who do you love more?
May we all be able to say, it is God to whom my
whole heart belongs too,
Not money.
Never money. I am content.
Amen. J
