"Satan is the ruler of this world." We've all heard that but do we really believe that?
Eph 2:2 says, How "you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient."
What does this mean? It means that Satan is in charge of this world. When Adam and Eve sinned and fell, Satan was put in charge. We, mankind, via Adam and Eve, handed over our dominion and rule of this world to Satan. We were placed in charge to the rule the world originally. But we handed that power over to Satan, just in eating one little piece of fruit. But not just in eating it, but in disobeying God. We are now living in hell on earth as a result of our decision. We got the punishment we deserved.
What else does Scripture say about Satan? 2 Cor. 4:4 says, "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ."
Who is the god of this age? Satan. He is blinding every one's eyes to the light of God. How does he do this? His primary mode of blinding minds in America is Reason. We have to have a scientific explanation for everything don't we? This keeps us from having faith. Faith is the opposite of reason. It is accepting what we cannot see, what cannot be explained. We are not to throw our minds out the window in loving God, but we cannot let our minds take total rule over us. Every person is made up of a mind, heart, spirit and soul. We cannot forget the heart, spirit and soul for our minds, but that is what the educated world does. And this is blocking us from God.
For some it is a heart issue that keeps them blinded to the truth. They are angry at God. Satan feeds them lies all the time that God, not him being Satan, caused all the pain in their lives. Satan says to them, "Why should you trust God when He has hurt you so much? Why should you believe in a God who only causes you harm?"
But what does the Bible say, "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you." With every lie from Satan we need to counter it with Scripture, because that is what Jesus did when tempted or attacked by Satan.
"All scripture is living and active, sharper than any double edged sword." We are fighting a battle, but it is not to be against each other, it is to be against our true enemy, Satan. And our greatest weapon is the word of God. So know it like the back of your hand and you will have greater success in this battle against Satan.
He is the one who stole paradise from us. He is the reason for all of our pain and suffering. He is the one who deceives people and pits people against each other. He is the one who divides and kills your loved ones. It is not God. God is for you. Satan is against you. Remember that.
I was listening to a sermon by Joyce Meyer and she said for the longest time she did not realize Satan was the main cause of her troubles.
He is.
"For our battle is not against flesh and blood" but what...."against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Eph. 6:12
This means that all the while when we are fighting each other who should we really be fighting? Satan. And how do we fight Satan? With prayer, with unity among the saints, with love, with forgiveness so we do not let our anger give Satan a foothold in our lives.
He is our enemy. We are at war. All around us are spiritual beings that we cannot see. There could be an angel or a demon standing in your house right now that you may not see but that doesn't mean it isn't there.
Sometimes people are able to see into the spiritual realm. I have a friend that sees demons all the time. Sadly she does not also see angels, since that would be better obviously.
My grandma has seen angels on two occasions, which is cool. :)
I have never seen an angel or a demon but I know sometimes at night I freak myself out and feel like there might be a demon lurking nearby.
I don't think this is entirely all in my head.
I think Satan is very much set against me and he has been my whole life. He's trying to take me out in any way he can. But I won't let him. :) "Greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world." And "God will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear." God's got my back, and he's got yours too.
So be aware but don't be overly afraid. "The battle belongs to the Lord!" Amen?!
"So we sing glory and honor, power and strength to the Lord...." and "If my God is for me than who can be against me?"
"Be strong and courageous for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go!"
Grace and peace be upon you :)
