Expectations

Where does anger primarily come from?

Anger mainly comes from having expectations of others.  If we did not have any expectations, we would not get angry.

Perhaps we expect them to be like us, and when they are not, we get angry.  Which is completely not logical because no two people are exactly alike.

We may get angry when someone doesn't do for us what we think they should.  But then that could just be us being selfish.  Perhaps we need to much.  Perhaps we require too much of the other person.  But other people can never fully meet our needs.  Only God can.

We may get angry if our food was not made right, but in the grand scheme of things, does it really matter?  There are billions of people all over the world who don't even have food to eat and we get bent out of shape if it's not exactly like we ordered it?  How prideful.  How arrogant.  How selfish of us.

Expectations are a dangerous thing.  Better to just not have expectations of anyone, then you will never be disappointed and never get angry.

I would also advise, don't have expectations of yourself so you will never get angry at yourself.  Have grace with yourself and others at all times.  :)

Expectations of others only lead to frustration.  Besides, ultimately you can only control what you do, not what other people do.  Expectations are a way to try to control others, to make them do what you want them to do, but that really almost never works.

We all just need to focus on ourselves, and forget about what everyone else is doing.  The only person we can control is ourselves.

Amen.  Let go of your expectations in Jesus' name and God will give you peace. :)
