John Piper

In praise of pastor John Piper:

Piper is probably the pastor I most agree with of any pastor I've known as far as all of his beliefs. He is open to the Holy Spirit and all spiritual gifts but he is wise and discerning at the same time.

He knows God's Word backwards and forwards, but he is not narrow minded or dogmatic.

Piper and his teaching is the perfect blend of reason and faith I think.

He believes very much in the power of God and God's Holy Spirit, but he is able to recognize and warns against the counterfeit. 

May we all feel and reason more like John Piper and increase in wisdom.  Amen :)

Here is him talking on women being pastors. Piper of course says it's not ok or biblical, as I would agree with, but that women can teach on occasion.   I like his balanced view on this very much!

We overcome Satan by preaching the gospel....We do not have to constantly cast demons out of people.  Piper's view on demons and exorcisms here is spot on too, exactly how I  believe and feel. :)

What I would say to that:

I fully agree with what Piper said at that conference. There are probably millions of Christians who think they are saved but really are not.  Look at the parable of the seeds.  It's totally biblical for him to say that.

Also the verses in that article are good, but salvation is NOT that simple. "Show me your faith without deeds and I will show you my faith by what I do." "Faith without works is dead." There are many who claim to be Christian but do not walk the walk.  Jesus said, "You shall know them by their fruits." If we are not bearing fruit, how can we really say we are saved?  Piper is right, this article is wrong. 

Piper is one of the best preachers out there by far.  Definitely check out his sermons on youtube and learn from him.  He is the a great man of God in my eyes.  :)
