Don't Stress Out

Psalm 55:22 "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken."

It's funny, everyone knows the first part of this verse but not the second half. Perhaps that's because people don't really believe it. The fact is, everyone is "shaken" at various times, like after someone dies or a job is lost. But what this means is that even though they will be shaken for a time, it will not be permanent. The righteous will not be completely overwhelmed and feel like all hope is lost. Why? Because their faith and hope is in God, and they trust Him to provide no matter how bleak their circumstances might look. Because He ALWAYS provides. Amen.

The main difference in hard times for a Christian and a non-Christians is that Christians know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God is always holding us in the palm of His hands. We know that God will never let us go. We know He will never let us suffer beyond what we can bear.

A popular verse says that God will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, this includes the temptation to commit suicide etc. God won't let you reach the point where you just want to end it all. God gives you an inner peace amidst the storms that no one can take away from you. God holds you the tightest when you are the weakest and God carries you the most in your hard times.

THAT is why you can "cast your cares on the Lord" and believe that he really "will sustain you" when times are hard. You can have faith that you will never be completely and overwhelmingly "shaken" because your faith, trust and hope is in the perfect God who loves you like no one else can. Amen.
