Rest in God
Mt. 11:28-30 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Our boss at work might lay a heavy burden on us, our parents might, our spouse might, but Jesus/God doesn't. His "yoke is easy" and his "burden is light." Amen. Praise God. :)
Often times we try to make God out to be like everyone else we might know. We think that since people expect a lot of us, that God does as well. But no, God loves us just as we are. God does not expect a lot of us. He does to an extent, but he empowers us to meet his own expectations through his Holy Spirit.
There is the contrast of the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. The Pharasees, and many Pharasees in churches today, like to push the letter of the law on people. They give people a list of commands and do's and don't. But Jesus said the whole law is summed up in simply loving God and loving others. That is the spirit of the law. That is the easy yoke that Jesus was speaking of. With God's Holy Spirit in us, this is easy, for the most part. :)
Don't think that God is some mean task master holding a gavel in his hand ready to condemn you. What did Paul say, "There is now NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Amen. Because God sees us as righteous now due to Christ's blood covering us. Amen. We do not have to earn our salvation. We do not have to jump through so many hoops for God to approve of us or to force him to love us. He ALREADY loves us, because he created us.
High demands may be the way your boss or parents or spouse are with you, but God is not. God truly loves you just the way you are. You don't have to earn his love. Paul said, "I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." Amen. God bless!
