Grace
Grace is something that is greatly lacking in the church today. I know the reason Christianity seems so offensive or appalling to so many people is the lack of grace in the church. Ghandi once said, "I love your Christ but I can't stand your Christians." Having gone to a private Christian college I can understand his frustration lol. Christians are the people who are supposed to have the most grace! And yet often times we have the very, very least, and are so incredibly judgmental.
The main verse in our women's bible study this morning was, "With the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you." (Mark 4:24)
I believe this verse is in reference to grace. Jesus said, “ For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” (Mt. 6) This is a hard verse but it shows how important it is to forgive and how important it is to be gracious. “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” How do we make ourselves unrighteous and ineffective? By holding grudges, by not forgiving, by not being gracious. My last relationship taught me a lot about showing grace and how vital that is to having a good life. We will only be miserable as long as we do not offer grace to everyone around us. Amen? Amen!
