Are We a World of Witchcraft?

What is witchcraft exactly? Is there witchcraft in movies we watch? In video games we play? Why does it seem like witchcraft is infiltrating our society in EVERY vicinity possible?!

Google defines witchcrafts as, "The practice of magic, esp. black magic; the use of spells and the invocation of spirits....the art of sorcery.....the alleged use of supernatural or magical powers .....The practice of witches; magic, sorcery or the use supernatural powers....an ancient belief system which involves magic, bizarre chanting, casting of spells and curses, an ancient and frightening sacred black book, pleading to dangerous and unpredictable spirits, exhorting favors from unseen entities, and belief that the laws of physics can be altered or suspended.....Exercise or invocation of alleged supernatural powers to control people or events, practices typically involving sorcery or magic. (EB) All Wiccans practice witchcraft, but not all who practice witchcraft are Wiccans......A set of specific pre-Christian and/or non-Christian spiritual practices and beliefs practiced originally in parts of Europe. Also refers to ritual, spellwork, and/or magical aspects of the Wiccan religion."

Witchcraft is no longer just practiced or seen JUST by Wiccans. Look at the Harry Potter movies! And these are shown to LITTLE KIDS! I have always known in my gut, in my soul, for a very long time that these movies were very, very wrong. Satan is slowly introducing people to witchcraft through these seemingly innocent venues and then it can get worse and worse. As the frog in a pot of water slowly starts to die without realizing it as the heat is turned up slowly, very slowly, Satan is slowly deadening our souls to Satanic forces.  Just like weed is considered a gateway drug, movies like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings can be gateway witchcraft into worse witchcraft. I am serious.

Other movies that bring up concern are the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, any Disney movies where villains practice black magic, yes including The Little Mermaid.....ANYTHING that contains elements of sorcery or black magic should be avoided.  Seriously.  Disney is not as innocent as they appear.  If you have young children, just stick with Veggie Tales and you will be doing your children an amazing service to their souls and psyches!  Veggie Tales movies teach amazing lessons of forgivness, kindness, not lying, not spreading rumors etc., and EVERY kid needs to watch ALL of them!  I, as an adult, actually like them too. lol :)

And now regarding video games....
"Twenty years ago Christians would be livid about this game, but after years of this desensitization WOW slips under our spiritual radar. World of Warcraft is one of the many tools used to captivate and desensitize many concerning the Occult and divination." (I will discuss WOW more in depth later.)
http://heartofwisdom.com/blog/a-christian-view-of-world-of-warcraft/

Also look at horror movies such as SAW.  Satan is behind that movie 100%.  He is turning up the heat slowly, getting us to not value human life as much, to become desensitized, and then abortion doesn't matter, teen suicides aren't as shocking, murders we see in newspapers aren't as scary.  HE'S SLOWLY TURNING UP THE HEAT.

If you would like, watch the following video.....this student talks about witchcraft in LOTR. (aka. Lord of the Rings)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUB1lV-urUI&feature=related

In the middle the student brings up the fact that the church people, where he was attending, would deride him for his love of Star Wars due to The Force. I think Star Wars is innocent enough, as there are not spells cast in it or anything else described in the extensive definition above. But look at the magic spells in Harry Potter! Those movies are OBVIOUSLY about witches, and for some reason EVERYONE thinks they are ok! They are NOT, not by any means. He also says, "What about Lord of the Rings?" He has many good points. There is a lot of magic used in Lord of the Rings.

People at Biola, the private Christian school where I went to college, generally thought of Lord of the Rings as Christian for some reason. They said it was written by J.R.R. Tolkien and meant to be an analogy of the Christian walk. The ring represents sin. Gandalf is supposed to be Jesus. The all seeing eye, the eye of Saron, is supposed to represent Satan. The team of friends that Frodo has is supposed to represent our fellow Christians that support us. The evil characters obviously represent demons. There is an interesting dialogue in one movie of Gollum with himself where it seems to depict very well the battle within every Christian even, of the flesh and the spirit, or those who listen to either Satan's voice or God's.

I remember when I was at my private Christian college, Biola, and they would have Saturday's devoted to watching the extended version of some Lord of the Rings movies in the dorms.

I have read and taught the Hobbit one year when I was teaching. I think the Hobbit is innocent enough. But J.R.R. Tolkein get a little carried away? Perhaps.

The student in the video states, "Hypocrisy exists everywhere. But I feel it is more embedded in the church more then anywhere else. I loved the pastor of the church but a lot of the people in the church were the problem that I had with the church." Who hasn't been there? lol Anyone who gone to a church for more than a month knows that church people can be very difficult at times. But people are people; people have always been people. Christian or not, we are all broken, sinful and lost. And we all hurt other people; it is inevitable.

He says, "I was always condemned for things that I enjoyed that didn't line up with their view of what Christianity is acceptable and what is not. They said to me, 'Star Wars is evil. They condemned me for my love of Harry Potter." I will say Harry Potter is bad as well, but I would not condemn anyone who watches it. I would just say, Use Caution. And I definitely would NOT recommend letting your children watch it. It deals with some topics and themes that are incredibly mature. I won't even watch those movies lol. I have seen parts of them, but I have never and will never watch one all the way through.

He says, "I loved Harry Potter. They said, 'You're supporting witch craft! You're going to become a witch. Didn't you know young children get into witch craft by watching these things!' "

I actually had not heard that before watching this video, but I could easily see that happening. That is why I say, DO NOT let your kids watch them. I know when I was 10 or so I saw the movie "The Craft" and started experimenting with witchcraft "games." I remember at sleep overs we tried Bloody Mary in the bathroom and that game Light as a Feather. Both seem harmless. THEY ARE NOT. People actually see some crazy stuff happen as a result of these childish games. If you have ever done these games you may need to break some bonds Satan may have formed over you as a result of them. Just say aloud, "In the name of Jesus I rebuke the practice of....or the game of...." Something like that. :) lol

He also says, "They were against and condemning me for Star Wars, pantheism, Harry Potter, etc."

He said in response to them, "You wanna condemn me? How do you justify the fact that you LOVE Lord of the Rings? White wizards, the ring, magic, spells, the crystal ball where they can be seen into the future, the eye of Soromon, mystical things, that contains witchcraft.....these Christians who are condemning me LOVE Lord of the Rings."

I can understand his frustration completely. That is the most annoying thing when someone condemning is or has done the EXACT same thing! Very, very annoying. Don't do that to people, ok? lol :)

The crystal ball in LOTR is certainly a form of witchcraft. Another definition says, "Sorcery or the use of supernatural powers to influence or predict events." They can see "into the future" with this crystal ball. So they are predicting events. That would certainly fit the definition.

The same goes for reading horoscopes. If you read horoscopes, STOP! I'm serious. It is not as innocent as it seems. It is cracking a widow of your soul open to Satan. Be very careful with anything regarding witchcraft, ANYTHING.

The student says, "The church people said, 'Gandolf, the white wizard, is a representation of Jesus. Gandolf gave his life for Frodo and then resurrected. Gandolf is Jesus.' "

He responded by saying to them, "First of all the Bible speaks against witchcraft! Jesus speaks against wizardry. Gandolf is a white wizard! Do you not understand what that entails? How can you associate Jesus with a white wizard? Are you that daff to not comprehend?"

Let's see, google defines wizard as, "A man who has magical powers, esp. in legends and fairy tales....charming: possessing or using or characteristic of or appropriate to supernatural powers; "charming incantations"; "magic signs that protect against adverse influence"; "a magical spell"....sorcerer: one who practices magic or sorcery....A term used in the past to describe a man with magical powers, or a magician or sorcerer."

By this definition yes it would seem a bit odd to liken Jesus with a wizard. Wizards throughout history were thought to practice black magic. Jesus NEVER practiced black magic. That is ACTUALLY the unforgivable sin, to say that Jesus and Satan's power are the same. Remember the Bible talks of an unforgivable sin? Let's look at the context for this.

The account is given in Mt. 12:

"Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see. 23 All the people were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”

25 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? 27 And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.....

I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come."

Jesus said, "It is by the SPIRIT OF GOD that I drove out demons." The word the Pharisees spoke against the Holy Spirit was in saying that Jesus drove out demons by the power of Satan. They believed the Holy Spirit WAS Satan. That is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. That is the sin that Jesus says will not be forgiven.

Therefore we need to careful of stating that any magical character, such as a wizard, is like Jesus. Jesus' power was holy and good. Wizards are generally not.

The student goes on to state, "Lord of the Rings contains the same magical elements that they condemned me for liking and loving, but they said it was ok because they thought they could justify it."

He raises some very good points. So what does the Bible say about witchcraft? There are a few times when it is discussed.

Dt. 18 states, "When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead."

Do we have any of this going on in our own nation?  I believe the Masons carry out many Satanic rituals.  I do not know if they go to the height of sacrificing their own child.  I suppose it is possible.

The following video tells the story of a woman raised right here in California where her dad was a Satanic priest.  He would use her as a "breeder" and then sacrifice the babies she had to Satan.  True story!  Right here in California!  Watch the video.

Another Biblical reference to witchcraft:

2 Chron. 33 says, "Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, following the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites. 3 He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had demolished; he also erected altars to the Baals and made Asherah poles. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshiped them. 4 He built altars in the temple of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, “My Name will remain in Jerusalem forever.” 5 In both courts of the temple of the Lord, he built altars to all the starry hosts. 6 He sacrificed his children in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced divination and WITCHCRAFT, sought omens, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger."

You may think, "Well of course I would never sacrifice my own children!"  Look at the movie "Hunger Games."  That movie seems to suggest that in the future we could turn into an empire like the Romans, how they had their gladiators.  We are certainly not there yet, as a whole, but are we headed there?  Do we undermine the value of human life already, yes, the majority of Americans do.  That is just the beginning.

Another passage about witchcraft:

Micah 5 says, "I will destroy the cities of your land
and tear down all your strongholds.
12 I will destroy your witchcraft
and you will no longer cast spells.
13 I will destroy your idols
and your sacred stones from among you."

Eph. 5 says, "The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and WITCHCRAFT; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."

Again we need to gaurd against anything that would even hint at witchcraft.

Another way that Satan is slipping through the cracks in our moder media is the video game the "World of Warcraft."  There are about 11.5 million subscribers to this game world wide.  There is a form of witchcraft in that game, and it's not even hidden! It's in the title! lol  I have known a few people that play this and it seems to take mastery over.

"Clinical psychologist and assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Maressa Orzack believes 40% of World of Warcraft subscribers are addicted to the game. Said the doctor: “I think there needs to be warning labels on MMORPGs like World of Warcraft, similar to warning labels on cigarettes."

http://heartofwisdom.com/blog/a-christian-view-of-world-of-warcraft/

Paul says, "“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything."

Does WOW master people?  Generally, yes.

“It matters to God how we use our time. It is something which He has given us. We don’t own it. We are responsible to manage it for Him. It doesn’t mean we must always work. Part of our time should be used in recreation and rest, the development and enjoyment of relationships. But we must be aware of how we use our time, and use it wisely” (Max, Anders 30 Days to Understanding the Bible).

Also "Many of the quests involve violence. Much of the game is spent fighting a diverse and sometimes frightening assortment of computer-controlled creatures gone bad-wild boars, wolves, rogues, undead creatures, dragons, thieves, etc. that include graphic depictions of blood during combat with appropriate sound effects."

Yes someone in my family is a WOW'er and I have always, always hated hearing these horrifying sound effects.

"Players fight by CASTING SPELLS. More correctly – they pretend to cast spells. Different spells have different effects on other players or monsters. Players earn the ability to cast spells by visiting trainers and by receiving items dropped by monsters, found through quests, or sold by other players. The strength of the spells depends on the players’ level and earned items. Spells can improve or weaken friends and enemy troops."

"The Bible is clear that casting spells is an abomination to God."

"Do not let your people practice fortune-telling or sorcery, or allow them to interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, | or cast spells or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead." (Deut 18:10-11 NLT)

"In June 2005 it was reported that a child had died due to neglect by her World of Warcraft-addicted parents in South Korea."  Wow....lol wow about WOW.

Hence, WOW can be a very dangerous game.  Please be careful regarding it and warn others to be  careful.

May God bless you all!  :)
