1 Corinthians 13:4-8
"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."
I love the verse that "love does not insist on its own way." For some reason people think when they are loving others they can be controlling with them. But that isn't love. Dictating what someone should or shouldn't do isn't love. Love lets people be free to make their own decisions. This is why God gives us the free will to love him or not. It wouldn't mean much to God if we didn't have the choice to choose him or not choose him, or to talk or not talk to him 24/7. It only means the world to God since he knows there are literally a thousand other things we could be doing with our time instead of talk to him. So when we do pray and talk to him, it means a lot more.
"Love is patient." When you try and rush others you aren't being loving. Real love gives people time to think and make their own choices. Also those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength and soar on wings like eagles. Love is capable of waiting on someone. :)
"Love is kind." Kindness is the most attractive character quality in anyone. Kindness IS love. :) "Love does not envy." If you truly love others, you won't be jealous when they have good things. You will be happy for them. And you will want the best for them.
"Love does not boast." If you are a truly loving person you won't brag about anything you have or can do. You will stay humble. Love is not arrogant. Love helps us to never think we are better then others. "No one should think of themselves more highly then they ought," Paul said. Love is not rude, obviously. Rude people are the least loving people. Rudeness comes from pride. If you think you are better then others, you will be very rude to them. The solution is to stay humble.
"Love is not irritable." When someone is irritable they are probably filled with an evil spirit, seriously. The Bible says, "Do no let the sun go down on your anger and don't give Satan a foothold." Nothing can open us up to a demon getting inside our mind like anger. "Anger is one letter away from danger" Joyce Meyer says. :)
"Love is not resentful." If you love someone, you don't resent doing things for them. You are a cheerful giver, always. And if they don't meet your expectations in some way, you do not resent it, because you love them. :)
"Love bears all things." My ex husband actually spelled that out in playdo just before we broke up. I don't know if the message in that was that I should bear all things with him or he was trying to convince himself he needed to bear all things with me. He was going crazy and I was getting really angry about it and at him for it. Hence why he spelled out that phrase I guess.
Love "believes all things." If you truly love someone you will believe that they can do anything. You will believe in them. You will have faith that they can be better then they are, without pushing them hard to be that way.
Love "hopes all things." Love never gives up hope on someone. If they need to be set free from some addiction, a loving person will keep believing in them that they can. "All things are possible to those who believe." You have to keep believing in the one that you love, that they can and will be amazing, even if they aren't right now.
And finally "love never ends." Once you fall in love with someone, you will probably be in love with them the rest of your life. That's why it's important that you choose wisely who to fall in love with, because a part of them will stay in your heart forever. "Guard your heart" the Bible says. Don't fall in love with anyone and everyone, only with the most worthy people.
And those are all my thoughts on love. I pray this blessed you all. Have a great day and may God bless you with a wonderful life in every way. :)
