The first thing I noticed in watching this as an adult was the temper the father had. I'm sure it was meant to be a warning to all fathers to not be like that. When fathers are like that, their kids tend to run away, like they did with Peter Pan.
Once in Never Land, you realize that Peter is quite the ladies man. Who all was in love with Peter? Tink, Wendy, Tiger Lily and the 3 mermaids. My goodness. Boys will be boys right? I think the writer of Peter Pan wished he had 6 women in love with him. Maybe he did. 😱😂
The flying analogy I always loved. How did they learn to fly up and above this crazy world? By thinking happy thoughts. How can we all rise above any problems? By keeping a happy mind set. Staying positive always.
Captain Hook I think was meant to represent Hitler. He always wanted to know where Peter was hiding, just like Hitler wanted to know where the Jews were hiding. Time, represented by the clock, eventually got Hook. Just like time took care of killing Hitler. And the world was a better place then, where ships could fly and families came together in love again.
The father thinks he recognizes the ship at the end. That is like how we remember our child hood little by little after we have our own kids. Life is a circle. We grow up, but then we relive our childhood with our kids.
Tinker Bell was like Peter's first wife. She was constantly jealous of Wendy, who was basically the second wife. Her pixie dust was like faith that made dreams possible. Or it could have represented magic, like black magic. Her attitude was very much like a witch. But in the end she was Peter's angel. She saved him from the bomb. Tink was a very complicated character.
Peter's flying represented that he was carefree. He was a boy forever. Never having to grow up and pay bills or raise kids. He was always happy and light hearted.
The boys in Never Land, where did they come from? They were lost. Maybe their parents put them in an orphanage and Peter rescued them out of there.
Overall the movie was fun to watch again. What things do you see differently in it, now that you are an adult?
