This is one of the best Disney movies ever made. A girl refuses to get married and has a witch turn her mom into a bear so she will stop trying to control her life.
I think we all felt angst in our adolescent days. We wanted to step out on our own, but we had mixed feelings about it. In college I went home every weekend, because I liked being around my mom so much. It is hard to let go of our parents, but we have to at some point in order to be adults.
In the end the girl makes peace with her mom and she is allowed to stay a kid for a while longer. She is allowed to just have fun.
But the sad thing is that the movie sends the message that growing up isn't fun. That marriage and raising kids isn't fun. I suppose it depends on who you marry. I heard once, "Marriage can be heaven or hell." Which one it will be depends on each person. Some people make it hell when they are verbally or physically abusive. Others keep it heaven when they give more than they take. When they only speak kindly to their mate. When they always act respectfully to each other.
Marriage is not a thing to shun or just tolerate. It can be just as fun as being single. The key is to not overly control each other. Love grows in freedom.
Give your mate freedom and watch your love grow. May God bless your marriage. :)
