Every time I ask God what to write about, he says, "Write about love."
Love is forgiveness. The best way to love others is to forgive them. I love the quote, "The best marriages are made up of two very good forgivers." If you don't learn how to forgive, you won't stay married for very long, or if it is long, it will be a very tense marriage.
If you can't forgive, you can't love. People who can't forgive are the most bitter and grumpy people. They have no friends, because they can't love others. They hold onto grudges way too long. They never let things go. The only person they are hurting is themselves, because then they are lonely.
If you want to have great friendships, great family relationships and a great marriage, you have to learn to be good at forgiving. I love the verse, "He who is forgiven much loves much." Also it is very true that whoever can forgive much, loves much.
When others forgive you, you feel like you owe them, and you love them more. When you forgive others, you are showing love more then in anything else you do.
We all mess up from time to time. That is why forgiveness is so important. You might feel inclined to judge someone you know and hold it over their head, but it helps to remember all the ways you have messed up. "First take the plank out of your own eye before removing the speck out of your neighbor's eye."
The more self-righteous you are, the harder it will be for you to forgive. If you think you are awesome, you won't be very merciful with others. The truth is that you are not awesome. You are just as messed up and prone to mistakes as everyone else. The more often you remember that, the easier it will be for you to forgive others.
Who are you still bitter at? Forgive them. Let it go. So you can be free. May God bless you! And God will bless you more the more you forgive others. :)
