God Cares

Here's a nice little story that shows more why I know there's a God and that he cares about me and my little family.

About a month ago someone stole my husband's bike. I just had it chained behind some bushes under our apartment which wasn't very smart on my part. I should have just carried it upstairs to our patio but it's a heavy bike. I was hoping it would be safe there. But someone brought chain cutters and stole it. That made Ben quite mad. I was thinking it is what it ...is and it's long gone now. But get this! I was delivering my Jesus packets around our apartment complex and I found it! It was pretty beat up so I'll need to replace the back tire tube, but I rescued his bike and brought it home! It was under the stairs in the very last building that I was dropping my packets off at. Pretty awesome! It definitely seemed like a God thing cuz that saved us $100 from having to get him another bike.

So see, God cares. And if the bike wouldn't have been stolen in the first place I wouldn't have had that awesome story to tell lol.

Maybe that story is to say, if you loose something or it's stolen, God will bring it back to you, in some way, shape or form. Amen! May God bless you all!

Etsy Profile

Here's the profile I just wrote for my bracelets on Etsy.com  :)

I'm a stay at home mother of two.  I have a 6 month old and a 2 year old. I have been married to a wonderfully sweet and hard working man named Ben for 3 years. I went to Biola University and have a B.A. in English.  I have been on missions trips to Taiwan, India and Mexico.  In the past I have worked with kids as a summer camp counselor, cruise ship children's counselor, Junior High English teacher, tutor, pre-school teacher, after school care etc. I have lived in California most of my life but also in Nebraska and am currently in Texas.  I love to write in a blog in my free time and make these bracelets. Check out my blog if you like: orangecountyangel.blogspot.com   I started making these bracelets to use in something I call "Jesus packets," which I still make also.  They are goody bags in which I put a bible tract, candy, bracelet and other fun things and I drop them off at door steps all over apt. complexes, Wal-Mart or houses etc.  It's a creative and fun way to witness I think. :)  If I can sell some of the bracelets also that would be great!

I love to use pearl beads in my bracelets, white or different colored ones.  Feel free to message me on here regarding whatever you might want.  I can custom make whatever color pearl bead you  might want with a cross charm and whatever phrase you might want.  For now I use letter beads, but I might start stamping metal plates with various custom phrases soon. I think the next things I will make and post will be matching mother daughter Christian phrase bracelets.  That will be cute. :) Currently phrases that I like to make are: "I am Loved" "God Cares" "It is Finished" "No Condemnation" "God is Love" "Jesus is Lord" "Child of God" "I am Rich in God" "God Loves Me" "I am Gifted" "Christ is in Me" "I am Blessed" "It's not About Me" "Be Generous" "Be Content" "JC is my Rock" "My Rock" "Love Others" "Be a Light" "God Knows Me" "You are my God" "God Help Me" "God is Holy" "Be Generous" "Die to Self" "Be my Light" "Shine for Jesus"....but feel free to request any phrase you might want for me to make for you on here or at angel28oc@gmail.com and I'll make it and ship it to you within a week.  May God bless you all!

My Parenting Advice

If I have a show someday on parenting here's some things I would talk about I think.  This advice comes from my current parenting experiences and my past 12 years of jobs with kids of all ages at pre-schools, after school daycare programs, tutoring, teaching, cruise ship kid counselor, Sunday schools, summer camps etc:

1. Get outside every day with your kids.  Fresh air is good for anyone and everyone.  Go for walks.  Let them run around in a park and get their energy out.  They will then be much easier to get to sleep also.

2. Be consistent.  If you say it's time to go to sleep don't go back in their room after you put them to bed.  Then they will know every time you say time to go to sleep, you mean it.

3. Don't do the "cry it out" thing with babies and toddlers.  Maybe for a few minutes let them cry, but don't let them cry for more than 5 minutes without addressing whatever they are upset about.  If they have a poopy diaper, sitting in it for too long can cause a terrible rash.  If they are sleepy, put them in a swing for babies and for toddlers give them tons of milk or oatmeal or peanut butter until they fall asleep.  No one can sleep well on an empty stomach.  It helps to have toddlers sleep in a play pen so they can't get out of bed all the time.  Also play pens can be safer than cribs so they can't hit their heads on hard wood.

4. Take care of yourself.  Don't let yourself get too hungry or too tired as a parent.  Eat when you need to and drink coffee/tea if the kids won't let you sleep.

5. Don't worry about what your friends are doing in their parenting or what your moms did or think you should do etc.  Do what you think is best for your kid.  Every kid is different and what works for one might not for another.  And what works for one parent might not for another.  Every mom has her own way to parent.  Don't neglect your kid, but don't worry about following a ton of rules either. Do what you think God is telling you to do in each situation.

6. Lastly but most importantly, always grow in your relationship with God.  Watch TBN and great sermons etc.  The closer you are to God, the better you will be able to really love your kids and treat them well.  God is the source of real love.  We cannot love perfectly unless we first receive God's love and respect God enough to obey his command to love others.  Focus on God first.  "Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you."  Like having great kids and the ability to parent well.  Amen.  God bless!

The Perfect Day

I think I've finally mastered the perfect day and schedule for our little family. We all wake up around 10am. I have Serenity watch PBS while I make bottles and do laundry. Super Why is on at 10 which I think is helping her already learn her letters woot! Then at noon I watch Marriage Today and Lifestyle Magazine etc on TBN. Then we go for a walk around the block with Ben or have a family dance time or go to the pool with the girls.  Then nap time 3 to 5. Then see if any good movies are on TV. Then a second walk around the complex with the girls and then bath time and possibly watching Impractical Jokers on TV. Love that show. It's so funny. Joy goes to sleep around 10 and Serenity around midnight. Perfect schedule. It's good we are getting out for walks now that it's warm again. That's really nice.

Parenting Today Idea

I think the world, and America especially, really needs a show called Parenting Today just like the Marriage Today show on TBN. And someday I would love to start it! That would be so cool. Maybe when my girls are teens I would have more knowledge to be able to do something like that.

My pet peeve before I had kids was when I saw moms yelling at their kids in public. I would LOVE to be a voice for kids out there about how important it is that parents respect their kids and treat them right. Not that I've been perfect in that but I know how important it is, because how parents treat their kids will pretty much dictate how the rest of their life will go. Maybe God will open doors so I can have a ministry on parenting someday. Woot!
