God's 48 Laws of Power

God has his own laws that will bring power to some one's life and make them prosper. What does the Bible say? Dt. 30:15-16 says, "See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you."

Many people believe the Bible has wisdom in it, but do we believe it to be the supreme wisdom that surpasses and eclipses all human wisdom, even that of someone like Robert Greene? Sure he has some wisdom, but man's wisdom will always fall short of God's wisdom. Why? Because God created us. He knows what is best for us.

God's laws are not arbitrary laws to keep us from fun. They are laws meant to give us life, health and prosperity. If we actually followed God's instructions for our lives we would have much happier and more successful lives. I truly believe this. This is not the prosperity gospel. This is reality. This is the concept of sowing and reaping. If you sow lying, cheating and stealing from others you will reap lying, cheating and stealing. If you sow love, unity and forgiveness, you will usually reap love, unity and forgiveness from others.

The evil man may seem to have victory for a time, but in the end, the righteous, those who live according to God's standards, will have true success, in this life and the next.

In the Old Testament the 10 Commandments were given. Jesus said when he came that all the law hinge on loving God and loving our neighbor. So in that sense he gave two laws to replace the ten, but he also gave more laws. He said, "The law said 'do not commit adultery' but I say to you if you look at any woman lustfully you have already committed adultery with her in your heart." He expanded the law. Jesus fulfilled the law but he did not abolish it. We are not saved by following the law, but if we are saved, we will follow God's law. "If you love me, you will keep my commandments."

With the Holy Spirit inside of us to help us, more is expected of us now as followers of Jesus. "To whom much is given, much is required." We have God living inside of us, so we are capable of living like Jesus and pleasing God a lot more.

Here are 48 examples of what God asks of us now.....

1. REALLY love people. People can tell the difference if you are fake loving them or actually love them. If you want to win friends and allies; then love people the best you can and actually be kind to them.

2. Forgive others, because forgiveness is setting a prisoner free and realizing that prisoner was yourself. You cannot say you really love someone if you can't forgive them.

3. "As far as it depends on you, live at peace with all men." Don't sneak behind other people's backs and try to learn how to tear them down. Be at peace with everyone. Don't compete. Seek unity.

4. "Do unto others what you would have them do unto you." Treat others the way you would want to be treated. This isn't some arbitrary rule in Christianity. What you sow you will reap. If you treat others with love you will probably be treated with love back. If you respect others, they will respect you. Not always, but usually. If you judge others, they will judge you back. But if you are gracious with others, they will be gracious towards you.

5. "Honor your mother and father that it may go well with you and that you may live long on the earth." Why? Because they have been alive longer than you and they have more wisdom. Any teen who does not submit to their parents usually ends up in jail or prison. Think about it. Those who do honor and listen to their parents, things usually go better for them.

6. "Honor the Sabbath and keep it holy." Why? Because if you try to work, in any way, 7 days a week you will burn out and possibly have a psychotic break. The body was made to rest. We need sleep every night which proves this. We are not super humans. We cannot expect to run ourselves ragged and not get the consequences for our arrogance. Yes working 7 days a week is arrogant, to think that you do not need to rest like everyone else. God modeled this for us with creation. "On the seventh day He rested." Even God took a day off. Are you better than God that you don't need a day off? Be humble and take at least one day off and your life will be much less stressful and easier to handle. God's laws are for our good, not for our harm, and they are not arbitrary.

7. "Do not steal." Anything. Why? Because you will probably go to jail if you do, or the person you stole from will probably steal back from you, and probably do something 10 times worse than what you did to them. You will reap what you sow.

8. "Do not covet." This is for our own good so that we can have peace. BE CONTENT. If you are always wanting more, of anything, are you at peace? You cannot be at peace if you are not content.

9. "Don't have idols before God." Why? Because nothing besides God is worthy to be worshipped. God doesn't just say this because He is a jealous God. He says it for our own GOOD. If we worship anything besides him that thing will inevitably disappoint us. So just worship God and you won't be disappointed. Because He alone is perfect and He alone can meet all of your needs. Amen? Do you really believe it? Then act like you believe it and don't let anything else in the ENTIRE world take God's rightful place in your life. :)

10. "Pray without ceasing." Why? Because your relationship with God is the most important one in your life. "I am the vine, you are the branches, apart from me you can do nothing." That means nothing, not something, nothing. Therefore we need to always stay in communication with our heavenly Father. If we forget about Him, we can forget about things going well for us because He is our lifeline. Do you truly believe it? Then talk to Him as much as you can, because then He will guide you and direct your steps. :)

11. Forgive others their sins against you so that your Heavenly Father can forgive you your sins against Him. This was not meant to be a threat when Jesus said this. This is because the fact is, as long as you are holding bitterness towards a fellow human being, your lines of communication with God are temporarily cut off. You cannot get through to him if you have strife in your life. Anger, bitterness and unforgiveness in your heart against anyone disconnects you from God. You have temporarily fallen from grace, in a sense. Mt. 6:14-15 says, "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions." This should be taken very seriously. Forgive others right away so that God will forgive you. Be slow to anger and quick to forgive, always, so that you will have life.

12. "Do not murder." Obviously. But anger is murder against someone in your heart. Sins are not just outward; God looks at the heart. You may look fine on the outside, but how is your heart? Are you angry at anyone? Why? "Do not let the sun go down on your anger and do not give the devil a foothold." Murder begins with anger. Anger does not always lead to murder but murder always comes from someone first being angry at someone else. So be careful with your anger, because it can be a stepping stone to horrible and terrible things. Anger can weaken your defenses against Satan and give him leverage in your life. What strengthens your defense against Satan? Love. Simply love; the opposite of anger and pride and jealousy.

13. Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.

14. Love the Lord your God with your whole heart, mind, body and soul.

15. Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say, rejoice.

16. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

17. Be patient with others. Empathize with them. Have compassion on them.

18. Be good. God is good; he made us in His image and for those of us who have His Spirit in us we need to strive to be good in all things.

19. Be gentle with others. Care for their needs. Do not judge lest you will be judged.

20. Be faithful. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Do what you say your going to do. Don't be a flake.

21. Above all else, be honest. Satan is the Father of Lies but we are children of the light and truth. We are to always be honest about everything; it doesn't matter what it is.

22. Be self-controlled. Everything is permissible for me but I will not be mastered by anything. Don't let anything master you or have control over you. Be in control of yourself and you body and emotions.

23. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Don't entertain Satan. Don't become friends with him and listen to him. Resist him! Treat him like your enemy. He is out to destroy you, not help you.

24. Flee from youthful lusts. Anyone who lusts in their heart after anyone has already committed adultery in his or her heart. Discipline your eyes and your thoughts. Don't lust after anyone.

25. Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Think about what you are thinking about. Don't just let your thoughts control you; control your thoughts.

26. Man lives by every mouth that comes from the mouth of God. Know the word. Meditate on it. Feast on it. So that your armor will be stronger against Satan and temptation.

27. Offer your bodies as living sacrifices. You are not your own, you were bought with a price. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Honor God with your body; what you eat, what you wear. Represent God well with your body. It is his gift to you. Respect it.

28. Do not conform to the patterns of this world. Do not love the world or anything in the world. We are not of this world. We are to be different, set apart. God says, "What can light have in common with darkness? Come out from them and be separate." Surround yourself with Christian friends. Be careful who you will let advise you. Make sure they are a man or woman of God.

29. Think of yourself with sober judgement. Do not be arrogant. Realize that you are a mist like everyone else that is here today and may be gone tomorrow. You are not king of the universe, God is. :)

30. Submit to the governing authorities. There is no authority except that which God has established. Even if you may disagree with them, still submit. Don't lead a revolt against them. Respect those who are above you.

31. Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery. We are children of the day. We are to be alert and self-controlled. Everything in moderation. Drink wine etc in moderation. Do not let it control you. Do not let it master you.

32. Do not worry about tomorrow. Worry denotes a dis-trust in God, either that he cannot or he will not take care of you. Trust that he loves you and he will take care of you. "My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."

33. Do not do anything that would cause your brother to fall. Everyone has their own convictions and different people have different weakness. Do not drink alcohol around a recovering alcoholic. Watch out for the weaknesses of others.

34. Do not love money. You cannot serve both God and money. The love of money is the root of all evil. Either you trust in money to take care of you, or you trust in God. It is very hard to do both. They are mutually exclusive.

35. Love your enemies. They don't deserve it. But we didn't deserve to be forgiven. "While we still sinners Christ died for us." We are to conform to Jesus and how he did things. Love those who hurt you and pray for them. Because that is the higher road. That is being the bigger man. Do not repay evil for evil, for you will only then reap more and more evil. But stop the inter personal war yourself and love those who hurt you. Forgive them, from your heart.

36. Be kind to strangers, for you never know when you might be entertaining an angel unaware. Angels are everywhere. They are all around us even if we don't see them. Angels appear as humans many, many times in the Bible. This is one reason to be kind to every single person you meet.

37. Do not let any unwholesome word proceed from your mouth. Don't gossip. Don't cuss. Don't say anything that would damage your reputation as a child of the Light. Don't lie. Guard your tongue and everything you says, because "life and death are in the power of the tongue."

38. Be thankful. Happy people are thankful people. Remember to thank God for everything He has blessed you, because He didn't have to.

39. Do everything without complaining. God hates to hear complaining. Stay positive. Have faith. Hope for the best.

40. Do everything without arguing. Don't argue even when you may really want to. Take time away to think about why you want to argue about a certain topic with someone and maybe write a letter to the person about it rather than argue with them about it. Besides, you probably won't change them by arguing with them anyways.

41. Finish the race. Don't give up. Don't loose heart. Press on. You can make it. "And my God who began a good work in you will carry it out until the day of completion."

42. Don't put any confidence in the flesh. Ultimately any gift we have is from God anyways. We would not have the talents we have if it weren't for God. We would not exist if it weren't for God. Remember that we are merely a speck of sand in humanity. Stay humble.

43. Fear God; for this is the beginning of wisdom. "Fear of man will prove to be a snare." But fearing God; He is the ONE whom you should fear. Respect Him. Honor Him. Be in reverence of Him. He is the creator of the universe. He is all powerful, all knowing. Fear God.

44. Don't take the name of the Lord your God in vain. I believe this includes saying, "Oh my God" for any reason. To take His name in vain means for it to loose it's holiness, it's being special. It means to make it trite, common. To say this in your common speech is to take His name in vain. Fear God and don't use his name flippantly. In the Old Testament people were rarely allowed to even say the name of God because they revered His name so much and feared God. My how far we have come from that. But may we go back to that. :)

45. Do not commit adultery. Be faithful to the one God has given you. Adultery is not just physical; it can be emotional as well. Be careful of friends of the same sex. That is how affairs start.

46. Be as wise as serpents but as innocent as doves. Meaning, understand how the world works and see through the games of people but don't become tainted by the world as you do this. Stay innocent.

47. Have faith that Jesus is coming back soon. This will make your current life easier to bear.

48. Remember that in heaven God will wipe away every tear from our eyes and there will no more pain or suffering. We have hope, for those of us who believe and are saved, that we will see God face to face and enter into his glory when we go to heaven. Hope for that day. Remember that everything in this life will be worth it on that day.

Store up your treasures in heaven. Save lost souls. Change the world for Christ.

"What does the Lord require of you? To love mercy, to act justly, and to walk humbly with your God."

May grace and peace be with you and may God bless you! :)
