How to See That God Loves You

A lot of people, Christians and non-Christians, have a hard time seeing that "God is love," or they have a hard time seeing how much God loves them. The only thing that the Bible says that God IS, is love. When you read the Bible, you can see a lot of things that show how much God loves you!

Steps

  1.
See that just the fact that God created you shows how much he loves you.
    • Psalm 139 says, "You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Amen. God spent a lot of time making you; that what it means to be "fearfully and wonderfully made."

    • You are not a mistake. You are not the result of just random chemicals coming together. You were planned by God.

    • Some verses say that God knew about us before the foundation of the world. He planned on YOU being born, before he even created the world. Your parents may not have planned you, but God did.
  2.
Understand that God sending Jesus to the world was because of how much He loves us.
    • Whether you believe in Jesus or not, God sent Him into the world to die for YOU. If you will only believe in Him, His death for you will be the only sufficient payment you will need to get you into heaven.  Praise God.

    • The Bible says that "For God SO loved the world he sent his only begotten son." God did not send Jesus to us for any other reason than simply that he loved us and wanted to save us.  Amen.
  3.
Realize that Jesus dying on the cross to pay our sins was to show us how much God loves us. Jesus did not have to die for our sins.
    • So many take it for granted that Jesus died, but we need to always remind ourselves; He did not HAVE to die. He chose to die, because He, Jesus and God the Father, loved us SO much. They wanted to pay the price so that we could be with them in heaven someday. That was why Jesus died.
  4.
Understand that hard times in our lives can actually show us how much God loves us.

  • Often times, when people go through a hardship, they start thinking that God doesn't really love them. But there is a great quote, "Sometimes God will allow a tree to be cut down so that it can grow back better." Sometimes, God will allow us to go through hard times or trials in order to discipline us. The Bible says "God disciplines those He loves."

  • For a parent to not punish or discipline a child is not loving and is considered neglect. When a parent takes the time to discipline and train a child, that is what shows that the parent really loves the child. In the same way, God disciplines us for our own good.

  • Hebrews 12:11 says, "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." In the end, God's discipline will make us better people.
5. Consider God's beautiful creation as showing us how much God loves us.
  • When was the last time you watched a sunset or a sunrise? Have you really taken the time to look at the stars or sit by a mountain stream or listen to the wind blowing through the trees? Have you ever really taken in, and been amazed by, the exquisite beauty of creation?

  • Think of all the thousands of species of animals that God made just for us. He didn't have to. God could have just made cats, or just cows etc. But God chose to make tons of amazing animals for us to see and enjoy.

  • God could have just made apples, but no he made hundreds of different kinds of fruit for us to enjoy. "Taste and see that the Lord is good."

  • God has blessed us, and showed us His love, in so many ways just in His creation, but how often do we really take time to think about it.

Tips

  • You need to learn to love yourself as well, because if you don't love yourself at all, you will not see how God could love you.

Warnings

  • In knowing and realizing how much God loves you, don't become overly arrogant. He loves you regardless of anything you have ever done. You did not earn God's love; He simply loves you because He created you. Amen.
