On Children

What does the Bible say about children? :)

Psalm 127:3-5                    
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.              

Proverbs 22:6                    

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Psalm 139:13-16                    

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

John 16:21                    

When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.

Matthew 18:1-3

Deuteronomy 6:5-9                   

 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.      

Deuteronomy 29:29                    

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Proverbs 1:8-9                    

Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and forsake not your mother's teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.

         

Ephesians 6:1-4                    

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

         

Jeremiah 1:5                    

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Mark 9:37                  

“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”

         

Hebrews 12:9-11                    

Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Psalm 22:10                    

On you was I cast from my birth, and from my mother's womb you have been my God.

Psalm 113:9                    

He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!

Genesis 1:28                    

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Proverbs 23:24                    

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

1 Timothy 5:14        

So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their households, and give the adversary no occasion for slander.

Deuteronomy 28:4                    

Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock.
