When we respect God and fear God we are being more humble. When we recognize God's position as king over our lives and bow down and submit to him, we are being humble. We are also then being most wise. That is why, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." To fear God, to submit to God, to respect God, that is what leads to the good life. That is what leads to true wisdom and great living and joy and peace etc.
It is the opposite of what Satan wants to tell us. Satan says, "You can't trust God. He only wants to hurt you. He's out to get you. He wants to punish you. He is NOT good."
But what is the TRUTH? GOD IS GOOD. God created us and loves us, the way a parent loves their child, and he would do anything for us. He sent his only son to die for us. That is how much he loves us. Don't listen to Satan. God always has your best interest at heart. He has "plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future." Believe him. Trust him. :)
Once we transform our mind and change our concept of God we will not want to sin. We will want to obey him, because it is easy to obey someone who loves you like crazy, who only wants the best for you. If you really believe someone ALWAYS has your best interest at heart, you will do whatever they want you to do.
This plays out in marriages as well. The more a husband shows that he loves and adores his wife and would do anything for her, the more easy submitting to him for her becomes. It becomes as easy as butter, :) because she knows that he loves her with all his heart and so she trust him to make the best decision in all things regarding her. :) Men, be that kind of husband. :) Don't force submission on your wives, it should come naturally when you act as lovingly as you can. Think everyday, "How can I be the most loving person in the world to my wife today?" and you will be amazed how much more amiable and pleasant she becomes. :)
