I have been watching Focus on the Family videos non-stop for the last 30 hours. I slept a little. :) They are so good! It is ironic because my mom listened to this show on the radio a lot when I was a little kid.
A marriage is meant to represent the Trinity, the godhead. They are three in one. In marriage you are two in one, at least you are supposed to be. You are meant to be unified in regards to every aspect of life.
I have always seen the Holy Spirit as the female in the Trinity since she is described as the comforter. The husband might first represent Jesus the son and eventually the Father, as they grow and mature. The Bible says that we go from glory to glory. The more we learn, the more we connect with God, the more glory we have essentially.
"Husbands love your wife as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." The Holy Spirit is called our counselor. The Proverbs 31 wife gives wise counsel, "She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue."
"In the beginning God made man in his image." What does it mean that we are made in God's image? We reason like God. Does that mean that we are little gods? If you have the Holy Spirit in you, you essentially have the power of a little god. But you yourself are not God.
Anytime a person is saved, they pray the prayer asking the Holy Spirit to come into their heart. From then on they are a new person. They are empowered with God's spirit. They can pray and have their prayers answered almost instantly, depending on what they pray for.
Have you asked God to fill you with his Holy Spirit? You can do it. It is great! "You have not because you ask not." Just ask God for his Holy Spirit.
