Ephesians 4:26-27
"Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil."
The main cause of murder is anger and jealousy. Cain killed Able due to extreme anger, feeling like things were unfair. King Saul tried to kill David for the same reasons. He was overwhelmed with jealousy over David's victories in battle.
If someone wants to kill themselves, the cause is almost always anger. They don't understand why their life got so hard. They do not know how to answer the questions deep inside of them. They cannot see any good in the pain they went through. Maybe they are mad at God for letting their life become so terrible. They don't have hope for the future. They are lost in a hopeless despair.
At some point, we all have to learn what to do about our anger. We can't just ignore it. We can't let it take over our minds and spirits. We have to resolve the past. We have to try to make sense of it all, rationally. We have to try to see good in the bad so we can be less angry.
"All things work together for the good of those who love God." We don't always believe this, but this one verse can keep us thinking clearly about our painful life. If it isn't good, God isn't done working it for your good yet. Just wait and try to be patient. Joy almost always comes after the sorrow. A rainbow comes out after the rain. You have to learn to be good at waiting for your rainbow to come out.
All things are not lost. God's not done using you yet.
It helps to remember that we are here to serve God. He does not exist to serve us. We are his minions. If he has to let us suffer in order to humble us so that we listen to his instructions better, he will let that happen to us.
It also helps to remember all the blessings you have gotten to experience. Your life for sure has not been only bad. That means your future cannot be only bad.
There is always good and bad in life. We have to deal with the bad and then rejoice over the good. No one gets to have a perfect life. No matter how rich someone is or how many friends they have. No one has it totally easy. We all suffer. The issue is, what will we chose to think about in regards to that suffering?
Change your perspective. Is it really all bad? Is there some good in the bad? What if what you think is bad now, a year from now, will seem good? Maybe you are in the middle of a divorce. It probably seems terrible. But maybe God has a better life for you, a better person, a better family set up. Just hang in there. Maybe the best is yet to come.
