Mourning

I just watched a sermon by Rick Warren regarding mental health. He gave it one year after his son killed himself. I was on the verge of tears the entire time, because it has almost been one year since my friend Michael killed himself.

He pointed out the verse, "Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted." God blesses us more if we mourn, because we are working through it. He said he cried every day for a year after his son Matthew died. I have wanted to cry every day this past year.

Suicide is a lot harder then any other kind of death. You can't help but keep wondering why it happened. Why did they feel like they needed to do that? Why couldn't anyone stop them from doing that?

I think I have realized if someone wants to die, you have to just let them go. It isn't easy for any of us to keep existing. Life is hard for everyone. Of course some imagine that their life is harder then it is. What you believe about your life is what it is for you. Your perception is entirely up to you. You could be banned from visiting your kids, but then you don't need to provide for them. You could have lost a house, but then you don't need to worry about it anymore. You may have lost a job, but at least now you can relax finally.

Life is filled with highs and lows. You have to just get through the lows, so you can enjoy the highs.
